Winter Sleep
Winner of the Palm d'Or at Cannes Film Festival 2014.
A fascinating, exciting and thrilling film, inspired by the short stories of Chekhov. Aydin, a former theater actor and avid fan of William Shakespeare, runs a small hotel in central Anatolia. He lives in the hotel with his young wife Nihal – with whom he has a tumultuous relationship – and his recently divorced sister. With the onset of winter, the snow piles up and the hotel becomes disconnected from the outside world, which brings on a burst of emotions that floods the enmity between them all. The collaboration of director Nuri Bilge Ceylan and photographer Gökhan Tiryaki reaches new heights that earned them the Palme D’or Award at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
