The Israeli Competition

The Israeli Competition is a collection of local works showcasing the creations of 24 young filmmakers from seven different film schools across the country. This year saw a large number of submissions, leading to an expanded competition. From these, the most outstanding works were selected, reflecting a wide range of narratives, artistic approaches, and schools. The competition is spread across 6 programs throughout the festival week.

This year, around 200 submissions were received from film schools across Israel. The selected films bring to the screen some of the country’s most promising talents.

The International Student Film Competition

The films, some of which have had an impressive international festival run while others are premiering here in Tel Aviv, were carefully selected with attention to narrative diversity, artistic quality, and their global relevance to social and political movements taking place both in Israel and worldwide. This year’s international selection includes a significant representation of films from Asia, LGBTQ+ films, and coming-of-age stories.

The Independent Short Film Competition

The Independent Short Film Competition presents a variety of Israeli short films by both emerging and established filmmakers. The lineup includes fiction, documentary, animation, and even works bordering on the experimental.

The Digital Media Exhibition & Competition

The Digital Media Exhibition & Competition showcases selected works on the most advanced digital platforms by students from around the world. It is the only exhibition of its kind in Israel, entirely dedicated to narrative storytelling through new media. This year’s edition features diverse and ambitious projects in virtual reality, computer animation, interactive films, video games, and interactive installations from across the globe.

The International Competition for Video Art & Experimental Cinema

The International Competition for Video Art & Experimental Cinema presents international and Israeli works that challenge cinematic language and our perception of the world. The participating filmmakers raise questions of identity, loss, memory, and the tension between the personal and the collective, using direct filming, archives, diverse animation, and analog cinematography.
