The Oscar Ceremony is the most glamorous event in the world of cinema. In this program, we will screen a program of short films that caught our eye and were nominated for an Academy Award in the Short Film competition. Some were directed by legendary directors, others feature prominent actors from the US and around the world, and some are light years away from the world of the rich and famous.

We watched many short films. It seems like over the years the filmmakers have perfected the skill of writing and directing the short film, and that finally the competition has become a hotbed for great talent. Some films touch on the most sensitive issues in our world - tensions between cultures or bloody wars - some bring to light humane, everyday issues, others feature disabilities or relationship problems.

It was important for us to show diversity and choose cinema from different countries, distinctive kinds of films with various styles. It was extremely hard to choose only a handful of films out of decades of the Oscars? Should we screen hundreds of movies? Well, we tried to find the films that were not only successful, but those that presented a unique style, require a special taste and present story that we could not see anywhere else but at the Oscars.
