The Film Bus is TISFF’s flagship project. The project was established with a desire to promote cultural events that combine cinema and creativity with social and community gatherings in the periphery of Israel.
Equipped with a projector, a large screen, a sound system, and popcorn, and full of Israeli and international students, the Film Bus sets out on a week-long journey and passes through various places throughout the country. During the week, films are screened for the general public under the stars. The Film Bus project allows TISFF to spread its magic around Israel, with the belief that cinema stimulates fruitful and enriching discourse.
This year, in the midst of growing division within Israeli society, we chose to focus on the unifying power of creativity and human connection. Recognizing the need to bridge gaps and bring together the many layers of Israeli society, we selected communities that reflect the country’s rich cultural mosaic. Through these encounters, we aim to highlight solidarity, strengthen bonds between people, and demonstrate how cinema can serve as a powerful medium for dialogue, closeness, and social renewal.
The Film Bus Project is held with the encouragement and support of the Matanel Foundation.

FilmBus 2024
In 2024, the Film Bus visited Kidron, Revivim, Ashalim, Midreshet Ben-Gurion, Beit Elazari.
The bus traveled between kibbutzim and moshavim in the south of Israel to visit, listen, volunteer, and amplify the voices of others who deserve to be heard. Our primary goal is to honor the spirit of giving that emerged at the onset of the war, when the state and its citizens came together in solidarity — to give, to receive, and to embrace one another.
FilmBus 2023
In 2023, the Film Bus visited the south of Israel – Arad- Ofakim- Ashalim- Yeruham- Mitzpe Ramon.
And focused on the connection between music and cinema.
Throughout the week, there were collaborations with musicians at the beginning of their careers, to enable social, professional, and enriching connections with film students. The combination was created with the notion that sound and image – film and music – create a universal language for a wide audience. Students hold activities for the local community each day of the week-long journey. When the sun sets, they set up the big screen and as the smell of popcorn fills the air, the magic begins.
FilmBus 2022
In 2022, the Film Bus had its opening event at Dizengoff Center, Tel Aviv, and then headed north of Israel- Tiberias- Katzrin- Kiryat Shmona- Rosh Pina.
Since the Film Bus is operated by and for students, the project focused on student communities around the country. At each stop, the crew met with a young audience of students and pre-army youngsters, with a common inspiration to create, make art, meet each other and, of course, enjoy their love for films together.
