The Ballroom scene began in 1960’s New York and was created in order to create a safe space for those who were segregated, especially transsexual women from different racial backgrounds, who were the true pioneers of Ballroom culture.

Ballroom is an avant garde scene in which people from all racial and sexual backgrounds can express themselves freely and compete for trophies and prizes. The scene and culture developed immensely over the years, and Ballroom is gradually becoming more mainstream, and has even made its way to Israel. As in every interesting film, in Ballroom there are characters greater than life, colourful and intriguing, telling their story through art and performance. The whole celebration will be led and hosted by Maor Maya, or rather, by his Ballroom alias, Shug 007.  In addition to Maor, there will be judges of the different categories.  You are cordially invited to witness the magic yourselves.
