The "Shorts on the Way" project is a joint initiative of the Gesher Multicultural Film Fund and the Tel Aviv International Student Film Festival. The project is intended to strengthen the status of the short film and help young filmmakers at the beginning of their professional path towards their first full-length film.

“Shorts on the Way” 2022 deals with the subject of “Opportunity”.

As part of the annual project, early in 2022, filmmakers at the beginning of their professional careers were invited to submit proposals for short films dealing with the subject of “Opportunity”. Of the 104 proposals submitted, five proposals received development grants and support for writing a screenplay with filmmaker and screenwriter Orit Dabush. 

During the festival, there will be a pitching event where the five artists will present their projects to a judging panel, industry professionals and the general public. Two of these projects will receive a production grant from the Gesher Multicultural Film Fund. Upon completion of their production, the films will be screened at a pre-premiere screening at the 2023 Student Festival. The winners will be announced on the closing night of the festival
