Lili Alone

Zou Jing
22 Minutes China

Winner of Leitz Cine Discovery Prize for Short Film at Cannes Critics' Week 2021.

Lili, a young mother, lives with her gambler husband in a remote part of Sichuan. Lonely and poor, she heads for the city in a bid to earn enough money to save her dying father. A subtle X-ray of contemporary China, Zou Jing's first film is also an utterly tender film, an odd blend of gentle violence and ethereal seclusion.
