Goodbye First Love

Mia Hansen-Løve
110 Minutes France

Winner of the Special Mention of the Jury at Locarno Film Festival 2011.

A beautiful and non-sentimental naturalistic work about first love, the passing of time and the challenges of moving on. 15-year-old Camille is madly in love with 19-year-old Sullivan, and her heart is completely shattered when he decides to go on a trip to South America. He promises her that he will always love her, and for a while he sends her letters. But one day, he writes to her that he wants to break up and Camille goes into a deep depression. Years later, Camille begins to study architecture and falls in love with her professor Lorenz, and they become a couple. But then, Sullivan surprisingly re-entered her life. The result is an emotionally charged and memorable film that gently seeps deep under the skin.
