The tradition of realism is one of the oldest and most influential in the art of cinema. Originating in the early days of movies, in the short films of the Lumiere brothers, it is based on films that seemingly manage to copy reality without giving interpretation or influence of style. Many cinematic movements have given different interpretations to realism over the years, from Italian neo-realism, through cinema verité to social realism in Britain.

They all share similar characteristics: the use of non-professional actors, natural lighting, outdoor photography in existing locations and a story that does not adhere to a tight scripted structure. All means are designed to replicate life, create a sense of authenticity and present an "objective" perspective on the world. As part of the workshop, students from the Steve Tisch Film and Television School at Tel Aviv University, created films based on the tradition of realism, mirroring Israel as it is, viewed through their eyes.

The films will include only Hebrew subtitles.
